Agustín Castiella was born in 1965, in San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain. He is a holder of an M.D. degree. He accomplished his medicine studies at the University of the Basque Country from 1983 to 1989, gastroenterology/hepatology formation at the Hospital Donostia from 1990 to 1993. He worked as a gastroenterology/hepatology staff member at the Hospital Donostia from 1994 to 1997. He also served as a gastroenterology/hepatology staff member at the Mendaro Hospital from 1997 to 2012. He published more than 100 publications, indexed journals. He also occupied the posts of Reviewer at UEGW from 2005 to 2012, Journal Reviewer at DDS, JGH, WJH, European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Mutation, Revista Española de Enfermedades Digestivas Journal, and so forth. His research interests include hemochromatosis (HFE gene mutations, MRI), DILI (autoimmune DILI), and autoimmune hepatitis. His investigation areas include hemochromatosis (DILI).
