John B. Vincent
John B. Vincent was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 1962. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry (summa cum laude) and mathematics from Murray State University, Ky, USA, in 1984 and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Indiana University, Ind, USA in 1988. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate and NIH Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Virginia from 1988 to 1991. Since 1991, he has been at The University of Alabama where he rose through the ranks from an Assistant Professor to a Professor and currently serves as the Interim Chair of the Department of Chemistry. His current research efforts are focused on the bioinorganic chemistry of chromium (III), in particular its potential use as a therapeutic agent to treat the symptoms of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. He is currently on the Editorial Board of Biological Trace Element Research and recently rotated off the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry.
