Soon Yim Tan

S. Y. Tan received his B.S. degree with first class honors in electrical engineering from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 1996. Since January 1992, he has been with NTU where he is currently an Associate Professor at the Division of Communication Engineering and the Deputy Director of the Satellite Research Centre. He has published more than 50 internationally refereed journal papers. His research interests are in the areas of propagation models and measurements for wireless communication systems, electromagnetic wave propagation and scattering in random medium, wireless localization and location tracking methodology, RF heating applications, and noninvasive cancer/tumor detection. Dr. Tan received the EEE Teaching Excellent Award and the NTU Nanyang Awards for Excellent in Teaching in years 2006 and 2008, respectively. Dr. TAN is a Member of IEEE.
