Wolfgang Sattler

Wolfgang Sattler was born in Innsbruck, Austria, in 1959. After graduating in chemistry at the University of Graz, Graz, Austria, in 1991 he worked as Postdoc at the Heart Research Institute, Sydney, NSW, Australia in Professor Roland Stocker’s group. Back in Austria in 1993, he worked as Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Graz. In 1997, he became Associate Professor at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, University of Graz. Sattler serves as referee for international journals of biochemistry and neurochemistry and as consultant for national and international research funding agencies. The main focus of his laboratory is on lipid metabolism and lipid-mediated signaling events in cells constituting the neurovascular unit. His current research interests include (i) myeloperoxidase-mediated lipotoxicity in the central nervous system, (ii) mitogenic lipid signaling in glioblastoma, and (iii) lysophospholipids as regulators of blood-brain barrier function.
