Govindasamy Sekar

Govindasamy Sekar graduated as an organic chemist in 1995 from the University of Madras, India, and obtained his Ph.D. degree in synthetic organic chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, in 1999, under the guidance of Professor Vinod K. Singh. He was a JSPS Postdoctoral Scholar with Professor H. Nishiyama at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan, Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Scholar with Professor L. F. Tietze at the University of Goettingen, Germany, and a senior postdoctoral scholar with Professor B. M. Stoltz at Caltech, USA, prior to joining IIT Madras in December 2004. His research interests lie in the areas of asymmetric synthesis, total synthesis of biologically active natural products, and synthesis and application of chiral nonocatalysts.
