Alberto Ortiz is a Cochief of nephrology at the IIS-Fundaci?n Jim?nez Diaz and an Associate Professor of medicine at the Universidad Aut?noma de Madrid, Madrid, Spain. He obtained his M.D. degree from the Universidad Aut?noma de Madrid. Ortiz was trained as a Nephrologist at the Fundaci?n Jim?nez Diaz and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania (1992-1994). Later he returned to the Fundaci?n Jim?nez Diaz as a Postdoctoral Researcher before becoming a Staff Nephrologist in 1996. Ortiz's research interests include the pathophysiology of kidney injury, the factor underlying the progression of chronic kidney disease and vascular injury, peritoneal dialysis, and Fabry's disease. He has more than 190 publications, with h-index 30.
