Marilyn M. Bui is an American Board of Pathology certified pathologist in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology. She has expertise in sarcoma pathology, cytopathology, and digital pathology. She is the Scientific Director of Analytic Microscopy Core at Moffitt Cancer Center (Moffitt) and the Director of Cytopathology Fellowship Program at the University of South Florida (USF) Health. Dr. Bui practices pathology at Moffitt, which is the 3rd busiest cancer center in US and the only Florida-based NIH/NCI designated cancer center. She believes that pathologists have a crucial role in the diagnosis, prognosis and therapy prediction of cancer. She strives to provide the most accurate diagnosis in a timely manner. She reviews challenging cases nationally and internationally hospitals seeking expert opinions on sarcoma pathology and cytology. Dr. Bui is passionate about translational research which identifies or validates diagnostic, prognostic and predictive biomarkers for cancers, especially sarcoma and breast cancer. She is the study pathologist for multiple research grants. She has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles, 8 book chapters and more than 130 abstracts. She has earned several awards in cancer research. Dr. Bui is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Soft Tissue Sarcoma. She is a member of 10 professional societies and 10 editorial boards for medical journals. Dr. Bui is committed to the teaching of medical students, pathology residents, surgical pathology fellows and cytopathology fellows. She has received multiple institutional teaching rewards and mentored cytopathology fellows receiving national awards. She has lectured both nationally and internationally. She is building a one of kind digital sarcoma pathology teaching library at Moffitt. She also mentors pathologists from Beijing China via a visiting international scholarship program.
