Atilla Sertgöz received his dental degree from Marmara University, School of Dentistry, Istanbul, Turkey in 1986. In 1988, he joined the staff of the Marmara University, School of Dentistry as Research Assistant in the Department of Prosthodontics. He completed his Ph.D. thesis on biomechanics of dental implants in 1993. In 1996, he was promoted to Associate Professor in prosthodontics. In 2001, Dr Sertgöz was promoted to full time Professor at Marmara University, School of Dentistry, and Department of Prosthodontics. His current work consists of clinical research, teaching, and intramural practice of comprehensive dentistry with special emphasis on all phases of implant dentistry and prosthodontics. Dr Sertgöz is a member of several professional organizations, including Turkish Dental Association, Turkish Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and International Congress of Oral Implantologists. In 2004, he was inducted as a Fellow into the International Team for Implantology. He is continuing the study club administrator of ITI Turkish Section. Dr. Sertgöz is involved in giving CDE courses, lectures, and hands-on courses to professional organizations and study clubs, both nationally and internationally. The topics on which he lectures include esthetics and implant restorative dentistry, computer-guided implantology, and CAD/CAM technology. He has given several presentations nationally and internationally and authored numerous articles in international peer-reviewed prosthodontic journals.
