Marco Luchetti was born on September 21, 1964. Currently, he serves as a Head of pain service and Senior Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist, Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, A. Manzoni General Hospital, Lecco, Italy. He works as a Certified Instructor of medical advanced simulation at Simulearn, Bologna, Italy. In 2010, he received an M.S. degree in pain management, and in 2004 he was licensed as Shiatsu Therapist. He has a large experience in the field of adult and pediatric anaesthesia and intensive care, with particular interest in respiratory disorders and ventilatory assistance. He is one of the major national experts in exogenous surfactant treatment for respiratory disease in children. He has over 50 peer-reviewed papers published about anesthesia, intensive care, pain medicine, and bioethics. He has participated in many congresses, meetings, and refresher courses about anesthesia, intensive care, and pain therapy, in Italy and abroad, many of which as an invited speaker. He is an active member of many national and international scientific societies. From 1999 through 2003, he served as a Member of the Scientific Committee of the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC) and a Reviewer for several scientific journals. Since 2008, he worked as a Member of the Editorial Board of The Open Pain Journal and Member of the Advisory Board of Euromdnet (European Medical Network). From 2003 through 2009, he served as an Associate Editor of Acta Anaesthesiologica Italica. In 2010, he served as Guest Editor of Hot Topic Issue: Complementary Medicine and Pain Treatment, The Open Pain Journal. Since 2001, he has been serving as a Complementary and Alternative Medicine Practitioner, and he holds 5 scientific awards. He is also among the Who's Who in the World 2011 listees.
