Ernesto I. Badano received his degree of Licentiate in Biological Sciences at Universidad Nacional del Salta, Argentina, in 2000. He later moved to Chile and received his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at Universidad de Concepción in 2005, and also held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile up to 2007. He is now performing research at División de Ciencias Ambientales of Instituto Potosino de Investigación Científica y Tecnológica, México. His research is focused on community ecology; on the one hand, he performs basic research aimed to determine the impact of natural and anthropogenic disturbances on species diversity and community structure, and how this may influence ecosystem processes. On the other hand, he also develops applied research addressed to the conservation and restoration of Mexican forest ecosystems.
