Dr. Per Caye-Thomasen is a well known clinician/academician for his otitis media research. He is associate professor in the department of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, committed to scientific and educational activities, published more than 115 papers, of which many are on otitis media, and contributed much to what we know about otitis media and mucous cell metaplasia/hyperplasia in this common childhood disease. He is the chairman of the educational board for otolaryngology. His group has been focused on the disease mechanism of otitis media and has paid a special attention to mucous cell metaplasia/hyperplasia in the diseased middle ear mucosa. He is one of the leading scientists in the field of otitis media research and serves as chair of the study section on Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology of the 10th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Otitis Media.
