Daniele Bani was born on September 20, 1961, in Florence, Italy. He works as a Full Professor of histology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Florence, Florence, Italy, since 2000. In 1986, he received a degree in Medicine, with honors, from University of Florence. From 1992 to 2000, he worked as an Associate Professor of histology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Florence. From 1992 to 2009, he was scientific director of research projects funded by the University of Florence, Florence, Italy, the Italian Ministry of Research and University, National Research Council, and Telethon Foundation. He is a Member of the list of experts of the Italian Ministry of Education, Research and University, since 2002, and Member of the list of experts of the Italian Committee for Research Evaluation, since 2004. He is a Referee for scientific journals American Journal of Physiology-Cell Physiology, American Journal of Physiology-Heart Circulation Physiology, Biochemical Pharmacology, Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, Circulation, Diabetologia, Drug Discovery Today, Endocrinology, among others, as well as the Italian Ministry of Education, Research and University (PRIN 2003). Bani's main fields of expertise are cell biology (cell culture, molecular biology, and functional studies) and morphology (immunocytochemistry, morphometry, and electron microscopy) mainly applied to the biology and pathophysiology of relaxin, nitric oxide, and inflammation. He is th author of 122 articles in scientific journals and 15 articles in books.
