Itamar Grotto

Itamar Grotto is the Director of the Public Health Services in the Israeli Ministry of Health since 2007. Grotto received his M.D., M.P.H., and Ph.D. degrees. He is a Public Health Physician with a Ph.D. degree in health system management. In that position, he is in charge of operating of all preventive services operated by the Israeli Ministry of Health. He is also responsible for development of Public Health Policy in Israel and for providing all public health functions including health promotion, environmental health, food safety, disease surveillance, emergency preparedness, and applied research. Grotto is affiliated with the Epidemiology Department, Faculty of health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University, Beersheba, Israel. He is the Coordinator of the Environmental Health Track in the University's MPH program.His main research activities are in the fields of infectious diseases epidemiology, as well as public and environmental health policy development. He has contributed to more than 100 publications in these fields
