Stefan Balint received a Diploma for merit in mathematics mechanics and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Timisoara (UT), Timisoara, Romania, in 1969 and 1976, respectively. Since 1969, Balint has been working at the Faculty of Mathematics of UT. From 1976 to 1979, he served as an Associate Professor at the Université des Sciences et de la Technologie d'Alger, Villeneuve d'Ascq, France. From 1979 to 1989, he worked as a Lecturer at the UT. Presently, Balint is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, West University of Timisoara, Timisoara, Romania. He is mainly interested in applied mathematics, flying vehicle dynamics and control, aeroacoustics, crystal growth dynamics, economical process dynamics, heat and mass transfer, pollutant transport in porous media, and biological processes dynamics. Balint has been a Member of the Scientific and Organizing Committee of the ICNPAA 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012. He is an Associate Member of the Committee of Space Research. He is an Associate Editor of many journals like the Annals of the West University of Timisoara, Series Mathematics-Informatics, Nonlinear Studies, Mathematics for Engineering, Science and Aerospace, Discrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, Applied Mathematics and Computing, and Global Journal of Mathematical Sciences.
