Swapankumar Ghosh is a Senior Scientist and currently working in the Bioceramics Division of CGCRI, CSIR, Kolkata, India. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in nanomagnetic materials for biomedical applications (2006) from Dublin City University, Ireland, M.Tech. degree in ceramic engineering (1986), B.Tech. degree in chemical engineering (1984), and B.S. degree with Honors in chemistry (1980) from University of Calcutta, India. He was recipient of Enterprise Ireland Research Innovation Fund? Fellowship for his doctoral research, Gold Medal for M.Tech. from University of Calcutta, and Honorary Doctorate from the Yorker International University, Florence, Italy, in 2006. Ghosh's current interest include LDH and magnetic nanoparticulate materials-based drug carriers for targeted drug delivery, templated noble metal nanoparticles for biomedical applications, nanostructured materials, engineering of graphene-based scaffold (a vehicle for nitric oxide donor drugs), and ecofriendly geopolymers from clay-based minerals for ecofriendly structural applications. He has worked in the areas of cement hydration and gelation kinetics, pigments, fast fired porcelain, porous intercalated and activated materials for catalytic and petroleum cracking reactions, impedance spectroscopy of ceramic materials, dielectric and ferroelectric oxide ceramic, and metal ceramic matrix nanocomposites. Ghosh is a Fellow of Indian Institute of Ceramics and a Member of editorial board of its journal and ISRN Ceramics (Hindawi) Journal.
