Dimitrios Axiotis received the Diploma degree in electrical and computer engineering in 1999, the M.S. degree in telecommunications in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in 3G mobile communications in 2004, all from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, Greece. Since 2011, he has worked as a National Expert in the European Commission and was involved in the management of research projects in the area of ICT for transport and eCall. In 2007, he joined the Direction of Administration and Control of Radio Frequency Spectrum, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Athens, Greece. From September 2005 to August 2007, he was an external Research Associate at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, NCSR “Demokritos,” Athens, Greece. During 2001– 2007, he was a Senior Researcher at the Telecommunications Laboratory, NTUA, coordinating research projects funded by the European Commission or national authorities. He has published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, receiving more than 320 citations. His research interests involve cognitive radio, multicarrier CDMA, TETRA, HAPS, mechanisms enabling interoperability in heterogeneous networks, and MIMO techniques. He is a Member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. He was a Member of the Technical Committee in IEEE VTC Spring 2009, Spring 2007, Fall 2006, and Spring 2004. He also serves as a Reviewer in several IEEE, Springer, and Wiley journals and major IEEE conferences (GLOBECOM, ICC, VTC, WCNC, and PIMRC).
