Alexandra Deters
Alexandra Deters was born in Haseluenne, Germany, in 1975. She received a Diploma in biology and the Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) from the Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen, Germany (FAU), in 1999 and 2003, respectively. From 2003 to 2004, she did her postdoctoral studies at the Department of Dermatology of FAU. Presently, she serves as a Junior Academic at the Institute for Pharmaceutical Biology and Phytochemistry of the Westfalian Wilhelms University (WWU), Münster, Germany. Her main focus of studies lies on carbohydrate activity on human skin cells: effects, uptake, signal transduction, and structural investigation. In 2004 she was recipient of the Egon-Stahl Prize awarded in bronze of Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research. She became an Advisor of the first Indo-German International Research Training Group on Molecular and Cellular Glycosciences. She is a Member of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research, the German pharmaceutical society, and the society of Dermopharmacy.
