Jiancheng Weng has served as an Associate Professor in the Transportation Research Center of Beijing University of Technology, Beijing, China, since 2007 and a Visiting Scholar in the field of transportation engineering at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minn, USA, in fall 2010. He graduated in July 2007 with a Ph.D. degree in transportation engineering from Beijing University of Technology in China after obtaining his B.S. degree from the same university in 2002. His research areas include intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic information systems and technology, and traffic data process and fusion. He also served as the chief project researcher while working on several projects including Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Planning of Beijing Freeway, Intelligent Transportation Information Platform System in Beijing, and Traffic Guidance (Vehicle Navigation) Systems Technology and Equipment, which were sponsored by various commissions of the Beijing Government. He is involved in two projects that focus on traffic system evaluation and capacity of urban road networks as part of the National 11th Five-Year plan supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Construction in China. Dr. Weng has published over twenty journal articles, referred conference papers, and project reports. He also served as a Chief Editor and a Member of the Executive and Organization Committee of the 10th International Chinese Conference of Transportation Professionals (ICCTP 2010) which was successfully held in Beijing in August 2010. He is currently preparing several new proposals in the field of traffic information and intelligent transportation systems in China and is planning to write a new book on traffic system evaluation.
