Shuowei Cai

Shuowei Cai works as an Assistant Professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts and has been working on structure and functions of botulinum neurotoxins for 15 years. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Massachusetts in 2001. He served as a Research Scientist at Alkermes Inc., Cambridge, MA, USA, from 2000 to 2005. He joined UMass Dartmouth as an Assistant Professor in 2005. He has published over 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His current research interests include designing of inhibitors for toxins, development of sensitive detection method for bacterial toxins, and structure-function relationship of botulinum neurotoxin.
