Usha Kulshreshtha

University of Delhi, India

Usha Kulshreshtha was born in Gwalior, India, in 1964. She has graduated (with Ph.D., Dr. rer. nat. degrees) in physics from University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 1993. From 1994 to 2001, she was first a Postdoctoral Research Associate and then a Senior Research Associate of CSIR at Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi. From 2001 to 2002, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. From 2003 to 2006, she worked as a Lecturer in physics in Delhi University Colleges. In March 2006, she joined her present affiliation as a Permanent Faculty at the Department of Physics, Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, as a Senior Lecturer, where she subsequently became Reader in February 2007 and eventually in February 2010 became an Associate Professor. She presently holds this position as a Permanent Faculty. Her research interests lie in theoretical high-energy physics, quantum field theories, string theories, gravity theories, and physics of black holes and D-branes. She is a Field Theorist by training. Her research broadly includes topics on gauge symmetry and the instant-form and light-front quantization of several field theories (chiral bosons, class of Schwinger models and nonlinear sigma models, Abelian Higgs models and Chern-Simons Higgs theories) and several D-brane actions, using the Hamiltonian, path integral, and BRST formulations. She is a recipient of Gary McCartor Award of the ILCAC Inc. for the year 2010. Her name appears in the Marquis Who's Who in the World 2009 and 2010.
