Juan M. Irache

Juan M. Irache is currently a Professor of pharmaceutical technology at the School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain. He also obtained the Ph.D. degree there in 1990. He worked as a Postdoc from 1992 to 1993 with Professor Dominique Duchêne at the University of Paris South in Châtenay-Malabry, France. Previous to his appointment at the University of Navarra, he was an Associate Professor of biopharmaceutics at the University of Rouen (France) from 1993 to 1996. He served as the President of the Spanish-Portuguese Local Chapter of the Controlled Release Society (2005-2006), President of the Spanish Society of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology (SEFIG, 2008–2012), and Member of the Council of Association de Pharmacie Galénique Industrielle (APGI, International Society of Drug Delivery Sciences and Technology; 2000–2008). He is coauthor of about 120 peer-reviewed articles, over 25 book chapters, and 12 issued patents. His research is focused on the delivery of drugs and antigens through biological barriers and the development and evaluation of new mucosal adjuvants for vaccination and immunotherapy.
