Shixin Deng is a Senior Research Scientist at Morinda Bioactives. He got a Ph.D. degree in pharmacognosy (natural product chemistry) from the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), Chicago, IL, USA. He finished his Ph.D. dissertation at the UIC Center for Botanical Dietary Supplements Research in National Institute of Health. He is a Member of American Chemical Society and American Society of Pharmacognosy. He is an Expert in medicinal plants. His expertise involves analytical chemistry, natural products, separation, purification, identification, and quantitation of bioactive principles in complex matrix of herbs, medicinal plants, and foods by using advanced chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. He has been actively involved in many professional activities, including servicing as an Editor and a Reviewer for over ten peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has been working on medicinal plants for over 20 years with extensive hands-on experiences and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers and patents.
