Santiago Esplugas received a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Barcelona (Spain) in 1972 and a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from the same University in 1975. He holds First Awards in Chemistry Bachelor of the University of Barcelona (1972) and Ph.D. in chemistry of the University of Barcelona (1975). Actually, he is a Professor (1993) in the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Barcelona. He is the Director of CEQAP since February 2003. CEQAP is a technology center belonging to Technology Transfer Network of Catalunya (XIT, CIDEM, Generalitat de Catalunya). He is doing research in the field of advanced oxidation technologies and photochemical reaction engineering with special focus on its use for pollution abatement. He has published more than 180 papers, mainly in the research area, and he has presented 150 communications to National and International congress. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Hazardous Materials (from 2007) and Journal of Advanced Oxidation Technologies (from 2009) and a Member of the steering board committee of the SEQUI (from 1993) and IOA (from 2010).
