Sveinn Are Hanssen

Sveinn Are Hanssen holds a Ph.D. degree. He is an ecologist with a background in evolutionary biology with an emphasis on life-history theory, sexual selection, and seabird ecology. He has been the project leader of large projects with international collaboration with titles such as Impacts of Eiders Predation on Benthic Communities in a Range of Climatic Zones, Eliminating Duck Predation in Mussel Farms by Exclusion Nets: Development and Experimental Product Testing, and Mapping Threats to Arctic Bird Populations. He was a secondary coordinator in a large initiative for the International Polar Year 2007-2008 (IPY) termed IPY #172 BirdHealth. Since 2006, he has been employed as a Research Scientist at the Department of Arctic Ecology, Norwegian Institute for Nature Research.
