Pedro Plans

Pedro Plans-Rubio was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1959. He received the M.D. and the Ph.D. degrees from the School of Medicine, University of Barcelona, Spain, in 1982 and 1991, respectively, and the M.S. degree from the School of Economics, University of Barcelona, Spain, in 1993. He serves as a Specialist in preventive medicine and public health, and labour medicine. He served as a Public Heath Official of the Health Department of Catalonia, Spain, from 1990 to 2003. Since 2004, he serves as a Responsible for Health Registries at the General Directorate of Public Health, Health Department of Catalonia, Spain. He is a Member of Expert Committee on Epidemiological Surveillance and as a Member of the research group of the Health Department of Catalonia in the CIBER in Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP), Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Ministry of Health, Spain. His research is focused on seroepidemiology, evaluation of vaccination programs and immune protection in the population by means of seroepidemiological studies, frameworks to set priorities to decide allocation of public health resources, and cost-effectiveness assessment of medicines, vaccines and public health programs. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of the journal Vacunas, Spain.
