John A.R. Williams

Aston University, United Kingdom

Dr J.A.R. Williams completed his BSc (Hons) in Physics in 1986 and his PhD on "Ultrafast Pulse Generation and Measurement" in 1990, both at Imperial College, London. He joined the then new established Photonics Research Group at its Aston University in 1992 and has been a Reader there since 2000. He has co-authored over 130 journal and conference papers in photonics related fields and pioneered developments in fibre gratings, fibre communications, sensors, microwave photonics and femtosecond inscription. Current research interests include the design and fabrication of in-fibre Bragg Gratings and their application as sensors, for the control of short pulses and for the processing and control of sub-carrier multiplexed microwave signals and Femtosecond Pulse Inscription in Fused Silica.
