Michael Kreuter received his Medical and M.D. degrees at the University of Marburg, Germany in 1999 and 2000, respectively. Between 1999-2005, he was a Fellow in Internal Medicine at the University of Münster, Germany, with a 1-year fellowship as a Research Fellow at Michael Klagsbruns Laboratory at Children's Hospital, Harvard University Boston, USA. Since 2005, Michael Kreuter works at the Thoraxklinik at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, one of the largest clinics for thoracic diseases in Europe. Presently, after receiving his degrees in internal medicine, hematology and oncology, and in pulmonology, he serves as a Consultant at the Department of Pulmonology and Respiratory critical care medicine at the Thoraxklinik Heidelberg. Since 2010, he serves as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer, Privatdozent) at the University of Heidelberg. His clinical work and research focuses on COPD, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, lung cancer, and interstitial lung diseases.
