Alessandro Della Corte

Alessandro Della Corte received the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees. Della Corte obtained the School of Medicine degree with first-class grades and honours at the Second University of Naples (SUN) in 1999; a specialty degree in cardiac surgery with first-class grades and honours (SUN) in 2004; the Ph.D. degree in “Medical and surgical physiopathology of the cardiorespiratory system and associated biotechnologies” (SUN) with first-class grades in 2008. From 2004 to date, Della Corte works as a Staff Surgeon at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and Transplant, Monaldi Hospital, Naples, Italy; from 2006 to date, he works as an Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery, SUN School of Medicine. In addition, Della Corte serves as a Presenter in more than 20 national and international scientific meetings, from 2002 to date; a Member of a Research Unit in three research projects cofinanced by the Italian Ministry of Research (PRIN 2002; 2003; 2006); a Principal Investigator in the GR2009 Research Project cofinanced by the Italian Ministry of Health (starting at 2012); an author of more than 90 abstracts and 90 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals (h index = 18 according to Google Scholar/PoP; h index = 16 according to Scopus/ISI-WoS; total impact factor = 210 according to JCR 2010); a coauthor of 1 monography and 2 book chapters in the field of cardiac surgery; an Investigator and Study Coordinator in 2 sponsored multicentric randomized trials in cardiovascular surgery; a Reviewer for Journal of the American College of Cardiology, JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, International Journal of Cardiology, The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, European Journal Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Journal of Heart Valve Disease, and others. Furthermore, from 2010 to 2012, he works as a Member of the Invited Faculty at the 2nd and 3rd International Meeting on Aortic Disease, New Insights into an Old Problem, Liège, Belgium. His main interests include bicuspid aortic valve, ascending aortic aneurysms, thoracic aortic surgery, aortic valve repair, anticoagulation for prosthetic valves, valve endocarditis, biomarkers in cardiothoracic surgery, and biomechanics in cardiovascular medicine.
