Shigeru Kawara

Shigeru Kawara is currently a chief of the Department of Dermatology, Kanazawa Red Cross Hospital, Kanazawa, Japan. He received his M.D. degree from Kanazawa University Medical School, Kanazawa, Japan in 1982, and his Ph.D. degree from Kanazawa University Graduate School of Medicine in 1986. He was an Assistant Professor of the Department of Dermatology, Facaulty of Medicine, Kanazawa University, from 1986 to 1990, and a Lecturer of the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Kanazawa University, from 1990 to 1999. He pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in the Division of Dermatology headed by Daniel N. Sauder at the Toronto University, Canada in 1999. He was a Chief of the Department of Dermatology, National Hospital Organization Kanazawa Medical Center, Kanazawa from 2000 to 2005. Then, He was an Associate Professor of the Department of Dermatology, Kinki University Faculty of Medicine, Osaka-sayama from 2005 to 2011. He moved to Kanazawa Red Cross Hospital as a Chief of the Department of Dermatology in 2011. He has a particular interest in psoriasis and cutaneous porphyrias.
