Elias C. Vagenas

Elias C. Vagenas Vagenas was born in 1971, in Athens, Greece. He studied at the University of Athens, where he was awarded his Ph.D. degree in 2002. He held a postdoctoral position at the University of Barcelona from 2003 to 2004 and a second one at the University of Athens from 2005 to 2007. In 2008, he was elected a Researcher Assistant Professor at the Research Center for Astronomy and Applied Mathematics of the Academy of Athens. In 201,1 he got his tenure and was promoted to a Researcher Associate Professor. His research interests are general relativity, black holes, cosmology, quantum fields in curved spacetime, quantum gravity (QG), and QG phenomenology. He authored 45 publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals with 1620 citations and h-index 26. Two of his papers have reached TOPCITE 100+ status and ten of his papers TOPCITE 50+ status on INSPIRE database. He serves as an Editorial Board Member of the Central European Journal of Physics and Editorial Advisory Board Member of The Open Nuclear and Particle Physics Journal. He acts as a referee for more than 15 journals, for example, Physical Review Letters, Physical Review D, Journal of High Energy Physics, Physics Letters B, European Physical Journal C, General Relativity and Gravitation. He has been a Member of organizing committees of five international conferences. In 2007, he coauthored a paper published in the International Journal of Modern Physics D which received an “Honorable Mention” in the Gravity Research Foundation Annual Essay Competition. He has acted as proposal reviewer for CONICYT/FONDECYT of Chile and for NSF of USA. He serves as a Member of the International Coordinating Committee of Marcel Grossmann Meetings, Member of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation, Member of the Hellenic Astronomical Society, Founding Member of the Hellenic Society on Relativity, Gravitation and Cosmology, and Secretary of the Hellenic Society on Relativity, Gravitation and Cosmology for the period 2010–2012.
