Naoki Teno was born in Hyogo, Japan, in 1959. He received the Ph.D. degree of pharmacy from Kobe Gakuin University, Japan, in 1988. He was with the Tokyo Research Center of Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd. in Japan in 1989 and joined Ciba-Geigy Japan Limited (present: Novartis Pharma K.K., Japan) in 1992. He was appointed as a Professor of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hiroshima International University in 2008. Areas of his expertise are medicinal chemistry, peptide mimetic. He is especially interested in synthesis and design of protease inhibitors and ligands for various receptors linked to cardiovascular or metabolic diseases.
