Xunli Zhang is a reader in bioengineering at the University of Southampton and also holds an RCUK Academic Fellowship. His key expertise lies in the area of microfluidic and Lab-on-a-Chip technologies from design and fabrication of microfluidic devices, through the development of in-situ monitoring methods for bio/chemical reactions, to microfluidic modelling, microsystems integration, and automation. He is named on over 50 peer-reviewed journal publications and patents, and 5 book chapters. He joined the School of Engineering Sciences at Southampton in August 2007 and currently leads a strong multidisciplinary research group to further develop microfluidic and Lab-on-a-Chip methodologies for applications in bioengineering.
