Fanrong Kong received Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University (SMU), USA, in 2009. He serves as a Research Engineer at the Research Center for Advanced Manufacturing, Lyle School of Engineering, SMU, since August 2009. His research interests include numerical analysis, real-time monitoring, and experimental study of heat transfer, fluid flow, residual stresses, and metallurgical behaviors in the laser-based manufacturing processes.
