Stefan Rolewicz

Stefan Rolewicz was born in 1932 in Poland. He finished Warsaw University obtaining his M.A. degree in 1955 and his Ph.D. degree in 1958. Since 1956, he has been working at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Rolewicz's scientific interests are functional analysis and mathematical Optimization. He is an author (or coauthor) of the following books: (with D. Przeworska-Rolewicz) Equation in Linear Spaces,, Monografie Matematyczne 47, PWN, Warsaw (1968); Metric linear Spaces, Monografie Matematyczne 56, PWN, Warsaw (1973), second ed., D. Reidel and PWN (1985); Functional Analysis and Control Theory (Polish PWN 1974 and 1977, German Springer Verlag 1976, English PWN and D. Reidel 1987); (with D.Pallaschke) Foundation of Mathematical Optimization, Kluwer Academic Publishers 1997. He also published more than 160 articles.
