Claudio Ferrari serves as a Senior Researcher at IMEM Institute of Italian National Research Council (CNR), where he is responsible of a group working in the field of X-ray optics on the basis of crystal diffraction. He is an expert in the field of X-ray diffraction for the X-ray characterization of semiconductor heterostructures, in the study of crystallographic defects using X-ray topography and high-resolution X-ray diffraction and in the study of components for focusing X-rays on the basis of diffraction. He (co)authored more than 150 papers in international journals, 4 invited contributions on international volumes, and he acted as an Editor of a book collecting the papers of XTOP international conference on high X-ray diffraction and topography. He is coauthor or 3 national and international patents concerning the application of X-ray optics. In 2005-2007, he was a National Member of the European COST project. He has been responsible of several national and international research projects, and since 2010, he is responsible of national projects for realizing X-ray optical elements for hard X-ray astronomy on the basis of crystal diffraction.
