Adriano Casulli holds his Laurea degree in natural science from Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, University of Rome, Rome, Italy, and his Ph.D. degree in veterinary and animal pathology from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Milan, Milan, Italy. He is a Research Scientist at the European Reference Laboratory for Parasites (EURLP), Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Roma, Italy. He is a Member of the Informal Working Group on Echinococcosis (IWGE) of the WHO. Casulli has specific competencies in the use of the most common instruments and techniques applied to parasitology and molecular epidemiology research. His research activity is focused on helminth forborne diseases at the national and international levels, especially on echinococcosis. He has competencies in the validation of analytical methods in zoonotic parasitic infections in accordance with the quality system (UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005) and the organization of proficiency tests for the detection of zoonotic parasites (Echinococcus spp. and Trichinella spp.; UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17043:2010). He was recently granted by GP/EFSA/AHAW/2012/01: Echinococcus multilocularis infection in animals, 2012–2015 (Project Coordinator), funded by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) FP7/HEALTH: HERACLES (Human Cystic Echinococcosis ReseArch in CentraL and Eastern Societies, 2013–2017 (Project Coordinator), and funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
