Ivan Bartoli received his Laurea degree in civil engineering from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy in 2001. From 2001 to 2002 he worked as a Researcher at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Bologna. In 2003 he moved to the Structural Engineering Department of the University of California, San Diego, San Diego, Calif, USA, where he earned an M.S. degree in 2005 and a Ph.D. degree in 2007 and worked as Assistant Project Scientist until September 2010. Dr. Bartoli has recently joined the Department of Civil Architectural and Environmental Engineering at the Drexel University. His areas of expertise include dynamics and vibrations of structural components and ultrasonic-guided waves for nondestructive evaluation and structural health monitoring of civil structures. He has developed novel techniques for dynamic testing of civil and aerospace structures, signal processing strategies, and analytical/numerical modeling of ultrasonic-guided wave propagation. His research activity has produced over 20 journal articles and several conference papers. In 2006, Bartoli has received the American Society for Nondestructive Testing Research Fellowship.
