Karen M. Page was born in Paisley, UK, in 1974. She obtained a B.A. degree in mathematics from Queens’ College, Cambridge, UK, in 1995. She completed Part III in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics in 1996 (now an MMath). She was awarded a D.Phil. degree in mathematical biology from the University of Oxford, Oxford, UK, in 1999. From 1999 to 2001, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in theoretical biology at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, NJ, USA. Since 2001, she has been a faculty at University College London, London, UK, first in the Department of Computer Science and, since 2006, in the Department of Mathematics. Page is currently a Reader in Mathematics. In 2011, she has been on sabbatical at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis, Knoxville, Tenn, USA. Her research is on mathematical modeling in biology, in particular modeling embryonic development, gene regulation, evolutionary dynamics, and cancer.
