Shobha S. Rao
Shobha S. Rao, M.D., is an associate professor at the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Family Medicine Residency program. She received her medical degree from Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati, India. Dr. Rao completed a family practice residency at the UT Health Science Center, San Antonio, and completed a geriatric medicine fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia. She has published several evidence based reviews on primary care topics in reputed journals including “American Family Physician” and the “The Journal of Family Practice”. In addition to her active role in Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) where she has served on the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors, Dr. Rao is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and the American Geriatric Society. Dr. Rao served in the advisory panel and participated in the American Medical Association’s panel discussion on “Parkinson’s Disease” Dr. Rao has received the Aesculapius Award for Teaching Excellence six times since 2000. Dr. Rao was honored with the Exemplary Teaching Award from the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, during its 60th Annual Session and Scientific Assembly in 2009.
