Pedro Jorge Martins Coelho received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering in 1984, 1988, and 1992, repectively, from Instituto Superior Tecnico, Technical University of Lisbon. He is an Associate Professor (with Agregation) at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Instituto Superior Tecnico, where he has taught in the areas of computational mechanics, heat transfer, and combustion. His expertise lies in the areas of mathematical modeling of industrial combustion equipment, modeling of turbulent reactive flows, and modeling of radiative heat transfer in emitting-absorbing-scattering media. He has been involved in many projects sponsored by the European Commission and by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation. He was a member of the scientific committee of more than 20 international conferences, and a member of the organizing committee of several international conferences. He reviewed papers for more than 20 international journals, and was a Coeditor of Clean Air: International Journal for a Clean Environment. He is currently a Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Computational Thermal Sciences, The Open Mechanical Engineering Journal, and The Open Thermodynamics Journal.
