Edward Andrew Payzant earned a B.S. degree in physics from Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, Canada, a B.E. and M.S. degrees in engineering physics from the Technical University of Nova Scotia, NS, Canada, and a Ph.D. degree in materials engineering from the University of Western Ontario, ON, Canada. He is presently a Senior Staff Member at the Chemical and Engineering Materials Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His research interests include development and characterization of ion-conducting ceramics and the application of X-ray and neutron diffraction methods for determination of structure, texture, and residual stress in engineering materials. He has coauthored over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals in addition to over 30 conference proceedings papers and technical reports. He is a Member of ASM International, the Neutron Scattering Society of America, and a Fellow of the International Center for Diffraction Data.
