Peter M. van der Kraan

Radboud Universiteit, The Netherlands

Peter M. van der Kraan holds a Ph.D. degree. He is Program Leader of Osteoarthritis/Cartilage Regeneration at the Experimental Rheumatology and Advanced Therapeutics, Nijmegen Center for Molecular Life Sciences, The Netherlands (Head Wim B. van den Berg) and the Principal Investigator at the Nijmegen Center for Molecular Life Sciences. He is also a Coordinator of the Human Pathobiology in the master Biomedical Sciences at the Medical Centre of the Radboud University Nijmegen. His research interests include the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis and cartilage biology with a special interest in the role of growth factors (e.g., TGF beta, BMPs, CTGF) in pathological processes. His research is focused on the elucidation of the mechanism of cartilage destruction in osteoarthritis and application of this knowledge in the prevention of cartilage damage and the stimulation of cartilage regeneration. His research covers the continuum of cartilage destruction to cartilage repair and cartilage tissue engineering.
