Sonia Boscolo received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from Université de Bourgogne, Dijon, France in 1998 and the Ph.D. degree in engineering and applied science from Aston University, Birmingham, UK in 2002. Since 2002, she has been working with the Photonics Research Group at Aston University, where she is an Academic Fellow. Thus far her main research focus has been in the field of nonlinear optics and more specifically on the exploration of fundamental mathematical theories of modern nonlinear science and their application in the context of fiber-optic communications and laser systems as well as on the design and modeling of novel nonlinear photonic systems and devices. She has published about 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and refereed conference proceedings in the fields of nonlinear physics and photonics, and optical communications, and produced 3 patents. She has been granted 4 research projects by UK funding organizations.
