Carlotta Castagnoli holds a Ph.D. degree. She is a biologist of the Skin Bank, Burn Unit, CTO Hospital, Turin, Italy. She completed her education at the Faculty of Nature Science of Turin University, Italy, in 1986. In 1987, she is specialized in clinical pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of Turin University. From 1992 to 1999, she was a Scientific Secretariat of Piedmont Foundation of Studies and Researches of Burn Injury. Since 1999, she has been responsible of the Laboratory of the Skin Bank, CTO Hospital, Turin. Her fields of interest include cell culture, cryopreservation and glycerolization techniques of human skin grafts and skin banking, cultured keratinocytes for clinical application, and immunology and pathophysiology of postburn hypertrophic scar. She is the author and coauthor of more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals. She managed several researches as a principal investigator.
