Dongwan Yoo is a Professor of virology in the Department of Pathobiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Veterinary degree from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, and also received M.S. degree in microbiology. Subsequently, he received Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Health Sciences, the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, ON, Canada. He completed his postdoctoral training at Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization. Yoo was a Professor at the University of Guelph before joining the University of Illinois and initiated his current research on porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus. His research strengths lie in molecular virology and modern vaccinology, and Yoo is one of the leading scientists in Arterivirus research. He serves on various grant review committees and journal editorial boards.
