Salvatore Monaco

Salvatore Monaco graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Padua, in 1978. In 1978, he was a resident at the Neurological Clinic of the University of Verona, where he received the Board Certification in neurology in 1982 and in neuropathology in 1988. Dr. Monaco was a Research Fellow at the Division of Neuropathology, Department of Pathology, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, from 1982 to 1986. After 1987, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Neurology, University of Verona. In 1990-1991, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Max-Planck-Institute für Psychiatrie, Martinsried bei München, Germany. From 1994 to 2006, he worked as an Associate Professor of neurology. Currently, he is a Full Professor of neurology at the University of Verona and Director of neuropathology. Dr. Monaco is a Member of the Italian Society of Neurology and Italian Society of Neuropathology and has served as a Referee for many journals, including the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, Brain, Lancet Neurology, and New England Journal of Medicine. His research areas include dementia, prion disease, peripheral neuropathies, neuroimmunology, and neuroinfectivology.
