Axel Schulz

Axel Schulz was born in 1967. He studied chemistry at the Humboldt University and Technical University of Berlin where he received in 1994 his Ph.D. degree. He joint the Department of Chemistry at the University of Glasgow from 1995 to 1997 as a Research Associate. After a postdoctoral year at the Research School of Chemistry in Canberra and at the University of Melbourne, he returned to Munich at the LMU and started independent research in 1998. Immediately after his Habilitation in 2001, he was appointed Privatdozent. In 2006, he moved to the University of Rostock where he was appointed Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry (Elementorganic Chemistry). He is also an Associated Professor at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis at the University of Rostock. His current research interests focus on the synthesis of binary CN-, PN-, and SN-species (University) and material design (LIKAT: synthesis of new catalysts, ionic liquids, etc.) combined with the understanding of the correlation between structure, bonding, and properties.
