Gustavo M. Dal Bello
Gustavo M. Dal Bello received the B.A.E. degree from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, in 1979. Since 1990, he holds the position of a Scientific Researcher at the Comisión de Investigaciones Científicas de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Being attached to the Centro de Investigaciones de Fitopatología, Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Forestales, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Bello's current research is involved in the investigation of native microorganisms for the biological control of diseases and insects that provoke losses in crops including those that affect stored products. Bello's aim is to study the effectiveness of antagonistic fungi and phytotherapic compounds as biocontrol agents of tomato grey mould (Botrytis cinerea) and wheat diseases caused by Fusarium graminearum, Bipolaris sorokiniana, and Drechslera tritrici-repentis. He also studies the lethal activity of diatomaceous earths, phytotherapics, and entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana upon Sitophilus oryzae, Tribolium castaneum, and Rhyzopertha dominica (Coleoptera) that attack stored grains. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and book chapters on biological control of plant diseases and pests.
