Luigi Atzori received the M.S. degree in electronic engineering in 1996 and the Ph.D. degree in electronic and computer engineering in 1999, both from the University of Cagliari. In 1994, he spent four months as a Visiting Student at the Technical University in Braunschweig (Germany). At present, he is an Assistant Professor at telecommunications at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Cagliari. His main research topics of interest are in service management in next generation networks, with particular attention to QoS, service-oriented networking, bandwidth management, and multimedia networking. He has published more than 70 journal articles and refereed conference papers. Dr. Atzori has received the Telecom Italia Award for an outstanding M.S. thesis in telecommunication and has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship (11/2003-05/2004) to work on video streaming at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Arizona. He serves as a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of the IEEE Multimedia Communications Committee (MMTC). He has been the coeditor of the Springer Book The Internet of Things, guest coeditor of a SI on Elsevier Image Communication Journal on mobile video, guest coeditor of a SI on the ACM/Springer Mobile Networks and Applications Journal on multimedia over ad hoc and sensor networks. He has been an Editor for the ACM/Springer Wireless Networks Journal (2007-2010) and he is currently a Member of the Editorial Board for the Hindawi journal on Advances in Multimedia. Since 2007, is the Cochair of the Steering Committee of the MobiMedia International Conference.
