Anna Iuliano was born in Settingiano, Italy, in 1964. She received the Chemistry degree (Laurea) from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 1989. Since 1989, A. Iuliano is with the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa. From 1990 to 1992 she was a PhD student in Organic Chemistry at the University of Pisa. From 1992 to 2005 A. Iuliano was a Research Associate of the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry at the University of Pisa. Presently, she is Associate Professor at the same Department. In 1998 she spent a three months period as Maitre de Confererence at the “Laboratoire d’Analyse Chimique par Reconnaissance Moléculaire” of the University of Bordeaux 1, working on a joint research project concerning the synthesis of biselector systems for enantioselective HPLC. The scientific interests of A. Iuliano are focused on the synthesis of chiral auxiliaries and their use in enantiorecognition processes. Since five years A. Iuliano has addressed her scientific attention mainly towards the synthesis of chiral “tropos” phosphorus ligands, deriving from natural products, and their use in asymmetric catalysis.
